Sup fam. How you done been in the good ole Estados Unidos? Don't take the air and the green for granted. Also the mountains. And sanitary living conditions. And naps. Yes ... naps. We say God's greatest creación was man, but really it was the nap. Well let's get into it... We had intercambios with the zone leaders and it was awesome. An intercambio is when 2 companionships swap companions for the day. I was with Elder Harms for the day. A ton of our lessons have been falling through so when we had the intercambio it was nice to have a full day with no missed lessons. It was really refreshing because he just knew what to do and was a great teacher in the lessons. As I am exposed to many good missionaries I try to pull apart things that they do and make them my own. I have a lot of gringo moments because I am trying to lead lessons in the area but I'm trying to run before I can walk. Soooo... there are a lot of "what the crap did I just do" moments. One of th...

This one will have to be shorter. I never have time with only the one phone, but here goes nothing... Reactivating familia lopez We have been visiting with the Lopez family for some time now. They are already members of the church, but they have not been coming to the church for some time. We could tell that they had many other problems as well. Now they are a different family. We had a small dinner, lesson, and shared our "American coke floats". They expressed sincere thanks for our visits, and it was a touching moment for everyone. The gospel has the means of changing families. It allows us to become close to on another and achieve happiness in our homes. Señor usted es el mujer de la casa... Jaja. We were in a quick lesson with a family who are members of the church. Normally I like to show respect to the father by saying that he is the man/head of the house and should choose who can say the opening prayer, but as I said the question I messed up the word ho...

Lisbeth new member last night with us New comps in apartment At a lesson with crazy kid who totally mistreats his turtle Eating areas Oscar's baptism The face when someone ghosts you on a video call

Your eyes are so cute

What's up!!!  So much but I can't say it all so we fixing to fast track this sucker.     This dude was sitting on his porch reading a book and so we simply were like "good evening what are you reading"? He was reading an english book and we went crazy cuz we're two gringos in the dusty old streets of Colombia. We talked for a while and we told him about our english classes in the church. We told him the time of our sacrament meeting too but thought nothing of it cuz he explained that he was catholic. But Sunday rolled around and the dude was there at church. I sat next to him and walked him through everything. He wanted to know a ton more and was shocked that our church is not full of herotics and crazy irreverent worshiping. This man wanted a book of mormon and to know more. Crazy      The other day I got hit on because I was white. We asked this inactive girl to go get her book of mormon, and she comes back wearing a dress which kinda exposed he...
Sup my peeps How r things back in the ville (greenville)?  If you have any cool lesson plans with games or objects, lemme know. I'm trying to better my teaching.  As we say in the south "now we're cooking with peanut oil". The work is picking up. We are teaching more, and God is just dropping people in our laps to teach right now. We don't deserve all the blessings. We taught a dude named Oscar, and he wants to learn everything super fast. It's crazy.  We are organizing soccer and English classes. Smoking them Latinos at their own sport. Super super fun.  One of the ladies we are teaching just loves the messages we share and reading in the Book of Mormon. She loves how the timelines, the doctrines, and stories are congruent or line up with the Bible. However, I'm not sure that she feels them in her heart right now. I feel these things in my heart and everyday I feel it more and more, but how do we know or feel that this is from God? How do we go from ...
Que tal familia?  So much stuff and absolutely no time. I love all of you.  Broken everything- First day I got here and I got to our apartment it was dirty, and everything was broken. All the cabinets were broken and dirty, and it was honestly a low point. I prayed a lot to God and told myself the gospel has to be true or what the crap am I doing. I got to work gutting trash out and dust. I found a moldy pillow case and wiped out the inside because we didn't own rags. Colombia!!!! Humility- God knows how much effort we are putting into showing him that we care. I was advised to give up my favorite sin and I would be blessed. God knows how much that sin means to you, and he will be able to bless you even more if you give it up in His name. I feel that I have lived a pretty clean life, but my favorite sin deep deep deep in my heart is that I think I'm better than some people. I prayed for humility, and I got some humility hahaha. Don't pray for humility haha. Jk do it.  If ...
Hi all! Mama Rouse here.  Sorry this email isn't coming directly from Colton.  He's trying to figure out the best way to send weekly emails, but it's a bit tough because he does not have access to any computers.  He does have a smartphone that he shares with his companion, but typing emails on it would be pretty tough.  So he used it to make a video this week and sent it to me through facebook messenger.  His hope was that I could email it to all of you, but it isn't going through for some reason.  Maybe because it's 15 minutes long!!!   I finally decided to edit it to two minutes and send it that way.  Sorry you aren't getting the full video, but hopefully this segment will give you a small insight into how he is doing and what he is experiencing.  And fingers crossed we come up with a new plan for next week! Btw - here is bit of info from his 15 minute video ... He's been in Colombia for two weeks and is living in a town called So...
